PLAYCON: AXON PARK - When Education Meets Gaming
In my wildest dreams, I never could’ve imagined just how many kids and teenagers would dive into Axon Park’s interactive Marine Biology lesson at PLAYCON in Malta. Yet there they were—100+ full play-throughs, each lasting a solid 15+ minutes, with some kids staying longer than their parents would’ve liked and even coming back for more to beat their high scores.
All of this was happening alongside epic gaming experiences from Exient’s Angry Birds, Anvil Game Studios’ Holdfast, and Dorado Games’ Conflict of Nations. To say it’s been an amazing week would be a massive understatement—I’m already fired up for next year.
What made it especially rewarding was seeing how education and gaming intersected right before our eyes. Education needs to change, and these kids are the proof they’re ready for it. They arrived eager to play and left with something even better: an extra bit of knowledge about marine life.
Watching them explore, compete, and genuinely learn was the highlight of the entire event. Their curiosity and enthusiasm turned a simple lesson into an unforgettable journey—both for them and for us.
A huge “thank you” to the entire team for making this possible. Moments like these remind me why we do what we do: creating experiences where learning feels like play. Because when kids (and teens!) are excited to come back again and again just to improve their score—and inadvertently expand their minds in the process—that’s the future of education we can all get behind.
Here’s to next year—and here’s to shaping the way we learn, one immersive lesson at a time.
